The Best Daily habits change your life drastically. They are the foundation of being successful. But implementing new habits can be hard. And which habits should you have in your routine to become successful? We all have been there: wanting to change your life, wanting to take action but where do you start. And how do you keep going? In this post I share with you the best daily habits that make a big difference. These are the habits that will help you become the best version of yourself, level up and be successful. I also share with you how to implement them and turn them into a habit.

When it comes to habits there are some important things to talk about:

  • The implementation;
  • Mindset;
  • The habit itself;

These three things all play an important part surrounding habits.

Implementation of the best daily habits

To implement new habits into your routine you have to practice them daily. At first this is difficult but repetition is the key here. It takes around 21-66 days to build a habit. After that it will become a lifestyle. And that is exactly what we want, habits that support the lifestyle we are working towards.

Mindset

Approach building new habits with the “just start mindset”. That is just starting a new habit and then keep going. When starting something there are multiple things that can hold us back. For example the thought of not being good at it, the thought that you do not know where to start or just totally forgetting about it. And the thought that it is hard can result in quitting.

But not this time. Ask yourself how much do you want it? How big is the urge to become a better version of yourself? Then hold yourself accountable when start you building these new habits. Another good thing is to keep your reasons, your why’s, in mind. It is good to keep your reasons in mind, especially when wanting to quit. “What was the reason for starting this habit?”. Be your own cheerleader, practice positive self talk and then keep going!

Choose habits based on what makes you feel good. Besides that choose habits that align with your dream life, the life you are working towards. Breaking down the goals you have into little pieces until they are daily habits. Matching your goals with habits results in every day making progress.

Whilst adding new habits can sometimes be difficult these are the ones to make you successful. They can drastically improve your life and that is exactly why you should add them into your routine.

These are the best daily habits to be successful and level up:

1. Waking up early.

The best daily habit to incorporate is waking up early. As a result of waking up early your energy levels will be higher, your mood can be improved, you will see better fitness results, be more productive, and have a better focus. But most important: you will have a consistent sleep schedule and improve your sleeping habits.

2. Morning movement.

Many successful people do some type of movement as soon as they wake up. Moving your body early in the morning allows you to really get your body to wake up. Secondly you cannot procrastinate it and there won’t be reasons why you can’t show up. Thirdly you did a hard thing as first in the morning and achieving this will leave you feeling great. this habit with waking up early.

3. NSDR

NSDR is short for Non Sleep Deep Rest, also named Yoga Nidra. Dr. Huberman, a professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Standford School of Medicine, talks about the benefits of NSDR as a guest on the podcast of Lex Friedman. You can YouTube videos or you can use apps for this. Even as short as 8 minutes can be beneficial. After doing this protocol I feel like my energy is restored. This is also an amazing tool to do after a block of learning or deep work. My favourite is this Non Sleep Deep Rest 8 minutes. It is short and simple but makes me more productive. I would highly recommend to add this habit into your routine!

4. Daily walk

Daily walks can be beneficial for multiple reason. Firstly you get some movement in. Your body needs movement throughout the whole day and a walk is perfect for that. Secondly you get fresh air. Which is great for many things including regaining focus. Thirdly it is great for taking a break. Although we sometimes just want to keep going, it is needed to take breaks and allow yourself to rest and relax. As fourth, you can use it as alone time to really come back to yourself. Go for a walk by yourself for some alone time. Listen to a podcast, music or maybe just enjoy your surroundings.

5. Bone broth

The animal meat, bones and joints provide collagen. The cooked form of collagen is gelatin. The collagen levels reduce from the age of 25 and that is basically why you want to consume collagen. While all movement is beneficial for your body, weightlifting comes with some extras. There different motives for weightlift training and then there are various types of weightlifting. The reasons may be purely for aesthetic purposes, or to gain strength, as well as to improve power, although it can also be used to maintain good health. Weightlifting can be quite easy, even though it can be intimidating at first. Advantages of weightlifting may include: better physique, clearer mindset, boost of the metabolism, and being stronger.

Many successful athletes and CEO’s have incorporated meditation into their routine. That because it can help with clearing your mind, regaining focus, practicing gratitude, setting intentions, becoming aware and manifesting.

There is a wide variety of meditations so you are most likely to find something that you like. After I got my morning movement in I make sure to do my 3 minute meditation. This is simply setting the timer, focusing on my breath and clearing my head. Although it can be difficult at first it really will be beneficial in the long run.

8. Reading

Reading books, both fiction and non-fiction, has great advantages. Firstly it is an amazing way of learning new things. Even with works of fiction you can learn a lot. Secondly it allows you to get a break from screen time. If you have not found a book that you liked then you have not read enough books. If you do not like reading then you did not found the right book for you. Besides that it improves your ability to keep focus. Then it also gives a lot of entertainment. And as last it advances your literary. As a result of reading many books you will level up.

9. Journaling

Journaling is the way to express creativity, review, reflect and plan ahead. It can be quite simple but journaling can uplevel your life. Many successful people use journaling to become more successful. Start implementing this habit to stay focused, track your growth. reflect on your thoughts, feeling and behaviours. Allow yourself to grow with daily journal prompts.

10. Cooking at home

Generally people prefer dining out over cooking at home. But preparing and cooking your own meals has its own benefits. Cooking yourself gives you the advantage of knowing exactly what goes into your meals, and thus what exactly goes into your body. You can then align this with your health goals. Beside that cooking at home is helpful for your health journey it also can be quite delicious, simple, and it does not have to take a lot of time. Start cooking at home and then you will level up!

11. Make your bed

This is a habit of many thriving people. Surprisingly it can boost your mood. It also gives you the feeling that you already accomplished something. With that in mind you set yourself up for a successful day.

12. Start day with a plan

When you plan ahead, wether that be the night before or the morning of, you can start right away. This results in a great and productive start of the day. Successful people plan their day which leads to them optimising their time and so they can be more efficient. Use a day planner to plan your goals, set the intention and be productive!

13. Frequently moving

Since we, as humans, are not made to sit all day long you need to prioritise movement. It is important to realise the benefits of frequent movement. Become aware of your habits around movement and then you can optimise it. Start the day with morning movement, go for an afternoon walk and as last do evening yoga. But you do not have to limit it to this: movement also includes doing a couple of squats, 20 jumping jacks or just simply walking up and down the hallway. Whatever it may be, all is fine, as long as you incorporate frequent movement into your life you will feel better.

14. Go outside

We need fresh air to feel good. Combine being outside with your daily walk and you can also stack this habit with morning movement. Without doubt you will feel better after spending some time outside. Spending more time outside may reduce your stress, can improve your mood, boost your focus and it gives you time to relax. Another benefit is that increases your physical activity. When you boost your physical activity you will feel better so go more outside!

15. Sunlight exposure

The benefits of sunlight exposure are diverse. Firstly sunlight can boost your mood. Secondly your body produces vitamin D, which is known for many great benefits, when being exposed to sunlight. Thirdly . It is important to realize early sun exposure is good for your circadian rhythm. Regulating your circadian rhythm is the way to a good night sleep. To sum up everything: go outside, get sunlight exposure and you will become a better version of yourself.

16. Prioritise eating protein

Eating enough protein is incredibly helpful for many things. Firstly it helps building muscle. Secondly it is great for your metabolism. Thirdly it gives you more satisfying feeling which leads to reduced cravings. Fourthly it is good for your bones. Beside these four benefits prioritising your protein intake has many more advantages. Overall it is amazing for your health, so you may want to consider eating more protein.

17. No phone in the morning

Many successful people do not use their phone when they wake up and not without reason. Most important is that you truly have the time for yourself without being distracted. As a result of not using your phone in the morning your productivity can get enhanced. Another key point is that you can fully relax and are not guided by social media. I would highly recommend to add this habit your routine!

18. Eat fruit and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables full of healthy vitamins and minerals. Besides that they are a good source of fiber. In other words: you need to implement these more into your eating pattern. Have fruit as a pre-workout snack, make a shake and eat extra vegetables with your lunch and dinner. Including this habit into your life will overall improve your health.

To summarize this: there are a lot of good habits. The best daily habits to incorporate into your own life to become a better version of yourself include: movement, NSDR, waking up early planning, spending time outside and a healthy eating pattern. Although the implementation of new habits can be quite difficult at first, it will become easier overtime. The key is to just start and then keep going.
