Night journaling to be the best version of yourself
Night journaling how to start and why you should do it? These were exactly the questions I had before I implemented it into my night routine. If you want to become the best version of yourself implement this now! Many high performers, CEO’s and business professionals have this incorporated into their night routine. And not without a good reason! In this post I share with you all about how to start, why you should do it and I even share journal prompts.
How and why successful people night journal
Many successful people like CEO’s and high performers journal. They use it to set the tone of the day, make a priority list, to reflect and gain clarity. Robin Sharma, author of the 5 am club, includes journaling in his pre-sleep ritual as a review of the day. Oprah Winfrey uses journaling to measure growth over a long period of time. She also keeps a journal to practice gratitude. These are great reasons to start night journaling yourself. Copy the habits of successful people and it is likely you will become successful yourself. So start to pick up a journal before going to bed and become the best version of you!
How night journaling changed my life
Night journaling allows me to review my day. I take my time to journal before going to bed to clear my head. I use two little notebooks: one I use for the Rule of Three, in the other I write my nightly reflection prompts. The combination of the two creates a simple plan and review system. With this review system I can directly see if the daily goals I set are reachable.
I sometimes like to do a brain dump in my journal. I use this method to clear my head whenever my thoughts are running at high speed before going to bed.
How to start night journaling
To start night journaling all you need is pen and paper, although you can also use your iPad, computer or even your phone. Grab a notebook and just start writing. If you are new to journaling my post why journaling will uplevel your life can be inspiration for you.
You can write about anything you like. You can even do brain dumps as to get a clear head before going to bed. A nice thing that will bring you in a good mood is to make a gratitude list. Simply write down all the things that you are grateful for. This can be anything and can be however long you want. Gratitude is a great practice for the mind and for the soul.
Writing affirmations before going to bed is a good way to set a positive tone and to reprogram the mind. Before going to bed your subconscious mind absorbs more information. So this is the perfect time to write down you intentions and affirmations.
Night journal prompts
I use a set of journal prompts. Some I include daily and between others I rotate. I choose them based on how I feel and whatever I feel like needs time to get reviewed.
Journal prompts
- What am I grateful for?
- What is on my mind right now?
- What did I do well today?
- What made me happy today?
- What is the intention of tomorrow?
In conclusion, many successful people have night journaling implemented into their routine. To uplevel you definitely will want to turn this into your own habit. You can journal about everything you want but it is certainly good to reflect on your day with journal prompts so you can take that with you to become the best version of yourself!
