5 things to start your health journey!
Maybe you’re already healthy and want to become even healthier or perhaps you’re just starting your health journey. Today I share with you five things to give your health journey a kickstart.
1. Manage your sleep schedule.
Start by waking up around the same time daily. Optimise your sleep habits to recover better and so you can see the results faster. Having a morning routine with the same habits sets you up to have a succesful day. The other way to improve your sleep schedule is to have a night time routine. Create a night routine so you can wind down, relax and prepare yourself for an amazing night.
- Night routine: read a book, journal, meditate, practice selfcare, dim the lights, relaxing music.
2. Eat enough protein.
Eating more protein is the key to a good start of your health adventure. Whatever your fitness goals might be, uping your intake is very important to seeing progress.
- Eggs, dairy, fish, chicken and meat are good protein sources.
3. Get your steps in.
Get at least 10k steps daily. Go for a daily walk. And you get some movement in and you get sunlight in your eyes. Nobody has ever gone for a walk and came back feeling worse than they did before. It is good to take breaks, clear your head, be for a minute out your environment, and to unwind yourself.
- Listen to an educational podcast, positive frequencies or just listen to some feel-good music. Or perhaps simply enjoy your surroundings.
4. Daily sunlight.

Go outside as soon as the sun rises. Getting sunlight in your eyes at the begin of your morning is very beneficial for your circadian rhythm. Your circadian rhythm goes hand and hand together with your sleeping schedule.
So you definitely want to go out in the sunlight. Then it is also a good oppertunity to be outside for fresh air. Sunlight is also a mood booster, so go outside!
5. Variety of movement.
Going to the gym once a week is a good start, but it isn’t enough. Setting enough steps and doing a variety of movement will make you feel better. Having a variety will also make you see faster progress, give you a clearer mindspace and it is beneficial for all the other movements you have.
- Think of daily walks, weightlifting, yoga classes, interval training, kickboxing, stretching, steady paced cardio, dancing.
